Whisky Flavored Beef Jerky Episode 29
If you love to buy beef jerky don’t watch this because you will never do that again. Homemade beef jerky is so much better. the main reason is just a better quality of meat. I am constantly trying out different cuts. Usually, if it is on sale I buy that. Just make sure it is not a cut with a lot of fat. The fat is what goes rancid. Feel free to follow my recipe below but try out some different seasonings as well. I made a jerk seasoning and my relatives loved it. Enjoy
Ingredients
Marinade:
- 1T whisky
- 1T worchestershire
- 1 T chopped garlic
- 1/4 C low sodium soy sauce
- 1/8 t hickory smoke flavor
Spice Blend:
- 1t cumin
- 1 t smoked paprika
- 1 t garlic salt
- 1 t black pepper
- 1 t salt
- 1 small ancho pepper
- 2 chipotle peppers
Meat:
- 1 lb I used thin sliced top round sirloin
Instructions
Beef Jerky:
- add beef and marinade to bag and refrigerate for 24 hours
- lay beef on grate to remove excess liquid
- add a liberal amount of rub( add rub to both sides on thicker meat)
- cook in dehydrator at 165 degrees(time will depend on meat thickness)
- I keep mine in a bag, I store in the refrigerator.
