If you like a Philly cheese steak, you will love my version. It cost a lot more to make but is far superior in taste.

World Class Cheese Steak

If you have ever tried a Philly Cheese steak then you will love this.  Years ago I saw Jeff Smith make a version like this on PBS.  This is definitely a fancy version of this street food.  You can really use your favorite steak as far as meat or substitute steak for chicken.  Give it a try and let me know what you think.

World Class Cheese Steak Episode 14


  • -1 thick cut Ribeye Steak
  • -1 loaf of bread (I used a Garlic Ciabatta Bread)
  • -fresh garlic
  • -1/4 C chopped onions
  • -1/4 C sliced green peppers
  • -home made sauce
  • -provolone cheese
  • -mozzarella cheese
  • -olive oil
  • -butter
  • -seasoning salt or your choice
  • -1T olive oil
  • -add 1 clove of garlic
  • -1/4 C of chopped onion
  • Saute for 3 minutes
  • -add 1 can of tomatoes
  • -1/4 C of fresh basil
  • -1 t of fresh oregano(optional)
  • -1/2 t of sugar
  • -pinch of red pepper flakes
  • -salt and pepper to taste


  1. Coat steak in olive oil
  2. Cook for 40 min at 250degrees
  3. Heat pan and add 1 T olive oil and 1 t of butter
  4. -add a pinch of garlic and stir
  5. add steak and sear on both side for 2-3 minutes
  6. let steak rest for 10 minutes and slice
  7. add 1 t of butter, a pinch of garlic and onions and green peppers
  8. saute for 2 minutes.
  9. Warm bread and slice
  10. add sauteed onions and green peppers
  11. add sliced steak
  12. add cheese an stick under a broiler until melted
  13. add sauce and eat!
  1. simmer for 5 minutes
